People’s Park

Peoples Park Limerick

One of the most popular parks in Limerick, the People’s Park was formally opened in 1877, in memory of Richard Russell, a prominent local businessman. Let the kids run wild in the playground and afterwards enjoy a nice picnic on the green lawns.

The park has a large selection of mature, deciduous and evergreen trees as well as a restored 19th century drinking fountain. At the centre of the park stands the Thomas Spring Rice statue, who was a former MP for Limerick.

Lough Gur

One of Ireland’s most important archaeological sites, Lough Gur contains the largest stone circle, dolmen, and prehistoric ruins in the country.

It’s incredible to think that you can find physical evidence of occupation from the Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Early Christian, Medieval, Early Modern, and Modern eras in and around Lough Gur. Think about that for a moment. That’s over 6,000 years of visible history in one place.

Lough Gur is situated in the Ballyhoura area, just 20- minutes drive from Maldron Hotel Limerick. It is completely free to walk the grounds outside of Lough Gur Visitor Centre, however, a small admission fee is required to enter the centre.

Limerick Milk Market

A ramble through the famous Limerick Milk Market is an excellent way to start the day and a great trip for the whole family to enjoy. The market, a 25-minute walk from Maldron Hotel Limerick, has been at the heart of Limerick since 1852, making it one of the oldest weekly markets in the country.

The Milk Market contains an amazing selection of stalls, fresh local and international produce and entertainment. The flagship market day is the Saturday food market; however, markets are also held on Fridays and Sundays.

The Treaty Stone

Ever wondered why Limerick is known as the Treaty City?  The Treaty of Limerick was signed on the 3rd of October 1691 after the war between William III of England (known as William of Orange) and his Father-in-Law King James II, giving the name the Treaty City.

The Treaty Stone is the rock that the Treaty of Limerick was signed on in 1691, marking the surrender of the city to William of Orange. The stone was erected in 1865 and stands across the River Shannon from King John’s Castle, only a 10-minute drive from Maldron Hotel Limerick.

Its not only a great spot for taking pictures with the famous stone but also you can capture some excellent snaps of the historic King John’s Castle.

The Hunt Museum

The Hunt Museum is a must-see for all visitors to Limerick. The museum exhibits one of Ireland’s greatest private collections of art and antiquities, dating from the Neolithic to the 20th Century.

The museum is home to the work of artists such as Pablo Picasso, Jack B. Yeats, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Roderic O’Conor, Robert Fagan and Henry Moore. During your visit you will also see a wide range of ancient artefacts from around the world, Irish prehistoric, Bronze Age and medieval collections, and decorative art.

    Is the hotel located near any shopping centres?

    Less than a 10 minutes drive from our hotel, you will find the Crescent Shopping Centre with retail outlets including H&M, Zara, Shaws, Penneys, Tesco, Heatons, Smiggles, Lifestyle sport, Elvery’s, Field Jewellers, Holland & Barrett, O’Briens sandwiches and Butlers chocolates. The shopping centre is one of the biggest and most successful shopping centres outside of Dublin, offering 37,000m2 of retail space, including also restaurants, a cinema, a public library as well as offices of Limerick county council.

    What room types does the hotel offer?

    Maldron Hotel Limerick boasts 142 spaciously designed bedrooms. Depending on your needs, you can choose between 4 different room types, including Double Rooms, Twin Rooms, Triple Rooms and Family Rooms. We also have a few rooms with a balcony and/or view of the garden as well as interconnecting rooms for families (subject to availability).

    Do you have wheelchair-accessible rooms?

    Yes, we have 8 wheelchair accessible rooms available, some on each floor. These rooms have more space to move inside the room and adapted shower. Please contact us directly to discuss availability.

    Do you have family rooms?

    Yes, we have a number of spacious family rooms available. Each of our family rooms is comprised of a double and two single beds, ideal for 2 adults and 2 children under 12. Please contact our reservations team to check availability.

    Can I get a cot or camp bed in my room?

    Yes, cots and camp beds are available on request. Please contact our reception team should you wish to discuss the availability of a cot or camp bed in your room.

    Are the hotel rooms air-conditioned?

    No, our bedrooms have no air-conditioning.

    Do the bathrooms have a shower or a bath?

    All our bedrooms have a shower over bath.

    Does the hotel offer breakfast?

    Yes, we are renowned for a great selection of breakfast options available each morning. Choose from traditional Irish breakfast items as well as healthier and nutritious options to kickstart your morning. Breakfast is served in our Grain & Grill restaurant 7 days a week from 7am to 10am Monday to Friday and from 8am to 11am at weekends and bank holidays.

    Maldron Hotel Limerick offers both room only and bed & breakfast rates. Room-only rates do not include breakfast. If breakfast isn’t included in your rate, you can still purchase breakfast on your arrival.

    What are the opening times of the Grain & Grill?

    Our Grain & Grill bar and restaurant opens daily for lunch and dinner. Carvery lunch is served from 12:30pm to 2pm and there is a full bar food menu available until 9.:30pm.

    Does the restaurant cater food for allergies?

    Yes, all of our menus have a full allergy listing. Please inform your waiter if you have any allergies, vegetarian or dietary requirements and our kitchen team will be delighted to assist. We also have gluten-free options available.

    Does Gain & Grill offer a dedicated kid’s menu?

    Yes, we offer an extensive menu for our little ones, including also our healthy options for the perfect family meal in Limerick.

    Do you provide room service?

    Yes, room service is available daily from 5:30pm to 9:15pm. You can order from our Click & Go menu, available through our Guest Service Platform. The food can be then collected at the collection point in our restaurant.

    Yes, our leisure centre has a 20m swimming pool with a separate kiddies pool which are both heated. We also have a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room on-site. For our more active guests, we provide a fully equipped and state-of-the-art gym catering for cardio, core and strength training.     The leisure centre at Maldron Hotel Limerick opens from 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 9pm on weekends and bank holidays.

    Kids are welcome until in the pool area from 9am to 7pm daily.

    Depending on the layout and room, we can accommodate from 2 to 50 people theatre-style.

    All meeting rooms are fully equipped with a LCD projector, flipcharts, still and sparkling water, mints as well as pads and pencils. In addition, free high-speed WiFi will be provided complimentary in all meeting rooms as well as air conditioning. All rooms also have floor to ceiling windows with black-out blinds.

    Bookings require a credit card for guarantee only unless otherwise stated. No cash payment is allowed for bookings, we only take payment via credit card with photo ID. For some special offers and specific dates, full payment is required at time of booking but these terms will be outlined in the special offer terms & conditions. Please note that no rooms will be let unless payment is guaranteed.

    What age are children for the purpose of hotel packages?

    Are there any age restrictions when booking a hotel room?

    To book a hotel room, you must be at least 18 years old. All under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian or parent. Identification will be required.

    Yes, we accept walk-in bookings (subject to availability). However, we would always recommend to call ahead to the hotel or booking online prior to arriving to secure your reservation and to avoid disappointment.

    How do I amend or cancel my booking?

    What is the cancellation policy?

    If you have booked the reservation directly with the hotel over the phone or online, Maldron Hotel Limerick offers free cancellation up to 2pm prior to the day of arrival unless advance purchase non-refundable rate was selected.     What does our “no show” policy entail?

    If you do not show on the day of your booking or didn’t successfully cancel, you will be charged the full amount for your first night’s stay. If you have booked our “advanced purchase” or “prepay and save” rates, you will incur a 100% penalty charge for the entire duration of your stay.
